I became officially unscrewed on July 10th, just 5 days shy of my 6 month post op milestone (more of my surgery milestones are on instagram @gowithgreer)! Even though I have had really low energy and some soreness the last few days (think of being punched in the gut), it is nothing compared to a PAO (periacetabular osteotomy).
My only restriction post screw removal surgery is to refrain from high impact activities for a month while the holes in my bones heal. I will start seeing clients again tomorrow, but I need to remember how essential resting and nutrition is to my complete healing. This is a small step back as I had been up to walking several miles each day and even jogging a little bit! I can already feel the difference of not having the screws in and I bet my range of motion will increase without them too.
I feel so blessed to have found such a brilliant surgeon who helped eliminate my pain and gave me my life back! I highly recommend anyone experiencing hip issues in the southeast to visit Dr. Schrader at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. I am excited to keep working in a field that I love, helping others achieve their health and fitness goals!
Life is good!
